Data Protection Officers

Outsourced DPO services and virtual privacy team support

Privacy Partnership data privacy experts and external Data Protection Officers have advised some of the world's largest companies on making privacy compliance changes that benefit their organisations.

Outsourced Data Protection Officers help you fulfil your legal requirements at a fraction of the cost of a full-time employee and allow you to avoid internal conflicts of interest.   We have worked with in-house teams in data privacy officer roles for over 20 years and support some of the World's best known companies.

An external DPO can act as your official regulatory point of contact for compliance with UK and European Data Privacy Laws and helps  you deliver on some of your key obligations under the EU GDPR , UK General Data Protection Regulation and Data Protection Act 2018.

Under the UK GDPR and EU GDPR, you must appoint  appoint a DPO if:

  • you are a public authority or body (except for courts acting in their judicial capacity);
  • your core activities require large scale, regular and systematic monitoring of individuals (for example, online behaviour tracking); or
  • your core activities consist of large scale processing of special categories of data or data relating to criminal convictions and offences.

This applies to both controllers and processors.

However you can also choose to appoint a DPO if even if you aren’t required to.

A DPO appointed in the UK can also act as your DPO for other European countries.

Privacy Partnership consultants can provide support as permanent or interim Data Protection Officers.
